Residents living in close proximity to the Statoil Kårstø processing plant – situated on the west coast of Norway – were alerted of a gas leak at the plant by text message from the Police through use of the UMS Location Based Alerting System.
The incident occurred late last night and the situation was brought under control by midday the next day. No one was injured in the gas leak.
