Singapore has fronted the implementation of a public warning system that makes use of location-based SMS to alert residents and visitors in times of crisis. Technology from UMS forms an essential part of the system.
Being one of the major commercial and tourism hubs in the world, Singapore is home to a population of over 5.6 million and attracts 15 million visitors from across the globe annually.
In order to reach out to the public during emergencies to help them make informed decisions, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Singapore has spearheaded the implementation of a public warning system that makes use of location-based SMS to alert residents and visitors in times of crisis.
Technology from Unified Messaging Systems forms an integral part of the Location-Aware SMS-Based Public Alert System (SPAS) commissioned by the Ministry. Unified Messaging Systems ASA (UMS) partnered with Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited (ST Electronics), a global engineering company specialising in Information and Communications Technology to deliver this system to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Singapore.
